What a great weekend I had. Instead of vending at shows like I have in the past, I'm getting to spend precious time with my family. Patric and I were in San Gabriel with three of my children and their families for my 10-year-old granddaughter Olivia’s dance competition. I loved it! While there, we helped move my daughter Natasha in with her significant other, Ryan. So, in other words, Patric and I were practicing retirement.
We are in the third week of my retirement sale. The shop does look a lot different since there’s nothing up on the walls but don’t let that fool you. Remember that my store is a large quilt shop and there’s a lot of fabric that has to go away. We still have lots of tone on tone black, black-and-white prints, batiks, florals, novelties and blenders in a rainbow of colors. The only thing that’s completely gone is the Kaffe Fassett Collective. Think backing, backgrounds, borders, novelty prints for gifts, guild boutique projects, place mats... Wouldn’t it be nice to just pull the perfect fabric from your collection and sew in your pjs one morning? Sounds really good to me!
Now, in the bead room we’ve been selling pendants like there’s no tomorrow. At 50% off customers are buying five and six at a time. These make great gifts and are a quick way to change your look in a flash by switching the focal piece on your favorite chain. Seed beads and Delicas are going quickly, too. When in the world do you ever get a chance to buy top quality seed beads and Delicas at 50% off? And we still have lots of wonderful gemstones.
Lots of samples have sold at great prices—they are marked at the cost of goods and you get 35% off that! We still have some left in the classroom. Plus we add samples to the sale when a pattern or book sells out. Some items belong to me, a teacher or the pattern maker, but If you see something you like that isn't for sale, ask about it. If it will be sold eventually, we'll put your name and phone number on it and let you know when it's available.
The girls and I have started pricing the fixtures so if you’re interested in things like that, this is the week to come. I still don’t know exactly when we’ll close the doors for the last time. Technically the lease runs until July but I wanted to start the sale when the weather was still nice and “my” snowbirds were still in town. It’s hard to get people to come to the desert when it’s 120° no matter what kind of sale you are running!
Our hours this week will be:
Monday thru Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
