mystery quilt

Good morning, everyone!
Where have the years gone? My granddaughter, Olivia, turned 9 years old on  Saturday. I simply can’t believe it. I remember when my son, Rafael, and I took off from their house to meet Brytni at the hospital like it was just yesterday. And so, this year she asked, “ Is this the year I get my sewing machine?” I could hardly stand it I was so excited! Sunday we happily spent the afternoon making fabric carrots with Letty’s new Bunch of Carrots pattern. She didn’t want to stop--of course she kept all of mine, too--and she’s looking forward to our next lesson. Lucky me.

Olivia and Gramma Go Go (that's me!) sewing "carrots".

I really want to thank everyone, again, who did our first online mystery. The pictures keep coming and the quilts are gorgeous. Several groups told us they zoomed with each other and made a party out of it! Some people wanted the steps to come more often than every three days but I decided it was a good time frame. So our table runner mystery, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, starts APRIL 9th and will run the same way. With this pattern you’ll learn to use the Tri-Recs ruler to get perfect points. It really is a wonderful tool—my points are better because the triangles perfectly trimmed to line everything up more easily. No guessing how big your “dog ears” need to be. There’s still time to join.
On a side note, the price of fabric is going up tremendously. I have been seeing reps almost every other day and have locked in current prices from most companies until next October. With everything that is happening in the world there’s just no other way around it for our fabric companies but to raise their prices. We’ve all been busy using up our stashes, so this might be a good time to come in and get blenders & basics to replace what you’ve been using.
Read on to see what’s going on at the shop—Facebook Live on Thursday morning, our item of the week, new items on the web and in the Palm Desert shop plus new dates for Zoom classes.
Happy quilting and beading, everyone--I hope to see you soon!

a bunch of carrots  A Bunch of Carrots
Our own Letty Rodriguez designed this darling carrot pattern to make something fun for spring. A small amount of fabric and just a little time are all you need--a wonderful project to help kids learn to sew!
It's on line as a digital download and at the shop as a printed pattern.

PS, in case you don't know Letty, she's Evelia's big sis and started working for Monica and Priscilla at Creative Expressions over 30 years ago. She left to have a baby (you guessed it--her first "baby" is our newest staff member, Vanessa!) and gradually came back, first behind the scenes and now on the floor. We truly are a family affair.
