Our online store has new items and many of your favorite patterns, notions, kits and more! We're adding things every week so check back often
Here's a link to our on-line shop.

Good morning everyone! It’s so nice to see new faces coming into the shop as some of you make your way back to your part-time desert homes. And of course, you know how grateful I am for ALL of you who continue to support us. Without you we wouldn’t be here.
Now, if you watched me on Facebook last week, I hope you got excited about making some paper foundation pieced quilts. Mary sent a text during the video asking me to show the Add-A-Quarter Ruler. I did, but she couldn't understand why I didn't demonstrate how to use it! When she asked me about it I told her I didn't really use it--all my templates already had the 1/4" seam allowance added. At which point she starts to laugh! Huh? Apparently, SHE was taught to use it for trimming sewn seams to 1/4". She still folds back the foundation paper, but instead of a regular ruler, she snugs the lip of the Add-A-Quarter against the fold and uses it to trim. Hah! No measuring, no slipping. Tune in Thursday morning at 9:30 to see me demonstrate this magical technique!
So with that said, new fabrics keep coming in. You can see samples from several of the collections below in What’s New: a darling Minnie Mouse trio of prints, tiny polka dots from Riley Blake in all the colors of the rainbow, novelty fabrics with a sports theme and another group for knitters, new tone on tone whites/creams plus the return of an Alexander Henry Folklorico print in two colors. And wait until you see the super bundle of fat quarters we created—24 black and white prints!
We’ll be open this Sunday for our annual Game Day Sale from 10 to 3. Take 20% off your purchases--see the ad below in What’s Happening for the details and a few exceptions. As promised, Evelia and I are also busy pricing some fabulous store samples that we’re retiring. Quilts, bags, pillows, place mats and more. No further discount on these, though. They are already priced at just the cost of materials. We will practice social distancing and there will be chairs outside for you in case the store is too busy for safety when you arrive. It should be a nice day--what better than to sit on a chair and chat 6 feet away from other quilters and beaders? Hope to see you all there.
With Valentine's Day approaching, I've put all our fabulous, one-of-a-kind pendants on sale at 30% off. Most are set in sterling silver. We have every size, shape, style and stone you could ever want. Traditional? We've got it! Contemporary? We've got it! Cabachons, faceted, pearls, polished, druzy--if you can't come into the shop, just call and we'll give you a virtual tour. Four of them are up on the website--click here to see them.
The Spring Fling Beach Party is just around the corner—mark your calendars for the first weekend in March. The quilt shop owners thought it would be fun to try something different this year so we’re giving out fat quarters of Kisses and Hugs from Riley Blake. These can be used for so many different things. Our color is Lipstick & I know you are going to love our sandal block. I do carry lots of colors in this line so if you need more, we’ve got it for you.
During our FaceBook Live events on Thursday mornings at 9:30 I’ve been showing you things to make using fabric scraps. This week, besides showing what I learned about the Add-A-Quarter Ruler, I’ll show you how to make a rug and a purse with those beautiful 10” Layer Cakes you just HAD to have. It’s time to bring them out of the closet and put them to work! The following Thursday Rose Mary will share her Masquerade Ball Gown pattern and give you some great applique tips. The week after that, I’ll show you lots and lots of quilts using just 3 one-yard pieces of fabric. We have six books that each have eight patterns using this technique. Easy ways to turn a small amount of fabric into a smashing quilt—I’m thinking charity quilts, silent auctions….And we’re putting together packets of coordinating prints for just $30 each—grab and go!
Our Item of the Week is another fun project. Start with the We Can Fly panel featuring Peter Pan and the gang, then add Chenille-it to bring the picture to life. Click here or see it below in What's Happening. The kit is 25% off through February 8th.
Happy quilting and beading, everyone--Hope to see you soon.

We practice social distancing and other state/local guidelines to keep each other safe in the shop. Sanitize your hands at one of the stations we've set up as you enter the store, wear a face mask and stay six feet away from others. Thank you!

add a quarter rulers

Add-A-Quarter Rulers
I learned something new! I knew this was the perfect ruler to add a quarter inch to your straight-edge templates, but it's also a magical tool that easily trims your seam allowances to 1/4". Part of the beauty of foundation paper piecing is that our fabric is cut oversize and trimmed before adding the next piece. The quarter-inch lip on these rulers snugs up against the folded foundation paper--no slipping, no measuring. Cut the perfect seam allowance every time.
