Our online store has new items and many of your favorite patterns, notions, kits and more! We're adding things every week so check back often
Here's a link to our on-line shop.

Good morning everyone.
This past Saturday I was hit by a “little looter” (Lol.) She came in, picked up a sample bag and just started gathering everything she could reach. We always post photos of “suspicious customers” on the office bulletin board—I must admit, she doesn’t really look suspicious--I hope the precious photos I posted below will give everyone a good laugh!
This week we are saying goodbye to my little Susie who’s been with me for 28 years because she’s moving out of state to live with her sister. Take a look at What's Happening below for a photo and to learn more about Susie's history with me and the shop. For those of you who want to send Susie a farewell, please drop it off at the shop by the end of June so we can send her a big envelope full of your cards.
So. We had a Skype meeting with the quilt shops in Southern California on Monday and the Quilt Run is still on. There are some shops that can’t participate this year-- we certainly had no idea all this was going to happen when we made the flyers in January, so please check the website for Southern California Quilters Run when planning your route. The Quilters Faire and I are ready to go out here in the desert. I hope to see all of you at our “parties.” All the shops need your support more than ever. I’m the Halloween party, of course.
OK, now for the shop. For those of you who don’t know some of the girls in the shop right now, it’s Evelia, her sister Lety and Lety’s oldest daughter, Vanessa. Lety worked for me over 20 years ago at Creative Expressions and left to have her children. And now Vanessa turned 20 last Saturday, finished her second year of college and is helping out at the shop. Boy do I feel old! Some of my employees are still a little hesitant about being here so I’m giving everyone a little more time. Starting next week, we will be open a little later. New hours will be: Monday thru Saturday, 10 to 4.
I have released truckloads of fabric from the manufacturers' warehouses to get ready for the quilt run and to make retreat kits. Feels good to put new things on the floor.
Coming up, our annual Father's Day Sale. It runs Friday thru Sunday, June 19, 20 & 21. The more you spend, the bigger the discount we'll give you. And, you don't have to come into the shop--you can use a code on web orders, too! Take a look at What's Happening below for all the info.

Happy quilting and beading, everyone. We can't wait to see you!

-Monica

What's Happening
Be sure to visit our Facebook page for up to date information. And, our website is full of patterns, kits, notions and more to keep you busy.

Last week my staff and I drove by Susie's to wish her well on her new adventure. Susie came into the old store (Creative Expressions) one day and I immediately fell in love with her and asked if she wanted to work at the shop. Susie worked on the floor and helped me with shows when we used to do two shows a weekend--she would go to one and I'd go to the other. She never backed down from anything. She taught lots of classes here for all those years. I can’t tell you how many people she started in quilting. Susie’s been through all of my children’s school plays, all of my family functions and was always considered my kids’ surrogate grandmother. I will miss her more than all of you will know.

Susie

Here's my little looter (my gorgeous granddaughter, Reiley!) caught in the act. If she couldn’t reach something, she just pointed and Uncle Miguel put it into "her" new bag. She was fast....lucky for me, her mom was right there taking things out as fast as she put them in. When she left, escorted by her bodyguard (her daddy,) she only walked out with one thing--a big soft pillow.

Desert Quilting Retreat Update
I finally heard from the hotel last week--they are opening up August 1st. That means my first weekend will not take place at the hotel. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not call the shop. A letter is going out at the end of the week. I am still working out some details and some things are not planned out yet. Remember I asked that everyone give me until June 15-20th to finalize everything. That date still stands. I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate your patience. You all know what you and this retreat means to my business during the summer. I promise it will work out!
