Row by Row, big-holed beads, fabulous ironing surfaces and more

Monica's Message
A Message from Monica

Well, good morning!
I hope everyone is staying cool in the desert or wherever you are. Miguel and I made it to Denver after stopping off for some fun in Santa Fe. We are all set up for the Rusty Barn show in Castle Rock, Colorado and hope to see any of you who are out in the Denver area. Stop by and say hello!
The 2019 Row by Row Experience has started. Our row is so cute! You can see it below in What's Happening. Remember, until November you must come into the shop for your free pattern. We do have kits for sale and you may purchase as many of those as you like. The pattern is included in the kit. Some of you reported that the California map is not coming up on the Row by Row website and we apologize for that. I also couldn’t get it to come up but Miguel did. Go figure! The promoters assure us they are working on it and hope to get it fixed soon.
quilt run gift basket  I hope everyone is planning to come out for the Southern California Quilters Run July 11-14 & 18-21. The prizes this year include a mini retreat for two at the Road To California including classes and hotel. Wow! You know how much I love a party--as always, the classroom will be transformed in keeping with our theme, Monica’s Mochas, and I’ll greet you personally. We’ll have new products to share, lots of great kits, patterns and fabric. That’s our gift basket—it's over 2 feet tall and full of goodies including 4 fab coffee mugs! Hope you win it.
Speaking of parties, if you want to have a fabulous weekend of fun to break up your summer, we have room for you in 2 of our Desert Quilting Retreats! Stay at the fabulous Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa, sew a beautiful mystery quilt and make memories. Call the shop if you are interested in joining us either August 2-4 or August 9-11.
Check out What's New below to see some of the beads and products we put out on the floor last week.
Monica's will be closed on the 4th of July. Happy Independence Day!
Read on to see what's new and to see some of the classes coming up. We hope to see you soon.

What's New

Lots of things come into the store each week--some new, some returning. We can't share everything, but here are some of our favorites.

ironing surfaces

New portable ironing surfaces! These sturdy, well-made boards fold up to store or for taking to classes and retreats. The two in the back are a set with the rolling storage cart--the smaller board has a carrying handle and stores underneath the larger board. Boards are easily removed from the cart--you can even use the larger board on top of your traditional ironing board.

This is the underside of one of the boards. The wood is good quality and smoothly sanded. You can see the carrying handle that folds out of the way. We don't have stock or final pricing yet--just these beautiful samples. Take a look at them in the classroom!

Bohin iron cleaning stick

Remove fusible or other residue from your iron with Bohin iron cleaner. It looks a bit like a chubby glue stick--just rub a small amount directly onto your hot iron! It melts  quickly so we recommend protecting your ironing surface from drips with a clean thick towel.
iron cleaning sheets

Bo-nash Iron Clean Sheets are another way to remove fusibles & sticky residues. Drape a folded paper towel over the edge of your ironing board, place one of these sheets on top of the towels and run your hot ironing vertically over the edge of the ironing board. 10 Sheets per package.

silicone pad
Save your wrist! This simple, silicone pad protects any surface from excessive heat. It withstands temperatures up to 428°F, so you can iron comfortably and have a safe place to rest your iron while you rearrange your fabric. Use it to protect bathroom and vanity counters from curling irons too!
seam ripper

The unique Rip it Away Seam Ripper has a razor-sharp blade that makes fast work of unwanted stitching while leaving fabric (and fingers!) intact thanks to a special protective design. Slice through stitches and then use the rubberized tip on the opposite end to remove the loose threads. A plastic cover protects the blade when not in use.

aqua terra jasper
These big-holed Aqua Terra Jasper beads range in size from approx. 6mm to approx. 10mm. The eye-catching colors and beautiful veining make them hard to resist.
druzy agate

More big-holed beads. At first glance they seem to be rustic raku ceramic but are actually Druzy Agate. You'll love the little crystals nestled into the irregular surfaces. The long beads are approximately 5/8" long and the small ones are about 1/4" side.

Classes, Classes, Classes!
We offer classes for all skill levels. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, you'll find something to get your creative juices flowing at Monica's. Our teachers are experienced and passionate about their craft. Here's what's coming up in the next few weeks. To see all of our current classes, click here. On The Quilt Side

The quilt side is on summer break. Look for the September thru December schedule in late July.

On The Bead Side
We offer over a hundred different jewelry-making classes! Each of our teachers has their own style and focus. They are always trying new techniques, tools and products to offer you classes using the latest and greatest in the bead world. Our schedule for July and August is more casual and class dates and times are not listed for July and August on the website. Call the store to see when you can take a class from any of our teachers.
