New quilt notions, changes to the bead room and fabric, of course!

Monica's Message

Hi, Everyone!
Yes, my life is a whirlwind. Patric and I are leaving Friday morning for the trip of a life time. I have always wanted to go to the Maldives with those beautiful turquoise waters, hundreds of little islands, white sandy beaches.. and that dream is coming true with Patric, my surfer dude! We will be gone for two glorious weeks. Ah....I can feel the warm sun, sand between my toes and feel the cool water now.
Two days after we get home I head to Idaho followed by Albuquerque for the Rusty Barn shows. All together I’ll be gone for a month. Wow! My life! So Mary will be in charge of the message.
There is so much going on at the shop. We are teaming up with some of the bead stores that are part of the Southern California Local Bead Store Association to host an owner “stash” sale on April 26, 27 and 28thClick here for a link to see which stores are participating. My staff has already been cleaning the bead room and we have lots of things are ready to move out. Select pendants, glass bead strands and Create Recklessly studs will be buy-one-get one-free (of equal or laser value.) Who knows what else they’ll do while I’m gone. I just know you don’t want to miss this blowout sale.
We’re excited about the changes we’re making to the bead room. I told you last week about the new display stands for findings—so, we are moving some of the sterling findings out of the glass cases and onto the floor. That will make your shopping quicker and make it easier to see the unique pieces in the case. And there are more improvements ahead…

What's New--here are some of the items that came in last week

If you are looking for a quick and easy project, check out our selection of pillow case kits. From juvenile to sophisticated prints, Evelia's unerring eye for color and design is evident is each kit. Great gits for young, old, and in between!

At last! The perfect scissors for fussy cutting, applique, any precise trimming. Havel's micro-serrated edge is Mary's favorite for Laura Heine and other collage quilts. Combined with the wider comfort grip--it's a home run!

Do you cut a lot of 2 1/2" strips? Our newest Creative Grids Ruler will speed up the process! It's 2 1/2" wide by 24 1/2" long--just right for cutting one folded width of fabric. As with all Creative Grids Rulers, it has easy to read lines and numbers, built in grips on the back, diagonal lines for half-square triangles and more.

 Bargello book

Start with as few as four (or as many as 24) fabrics to sew a table runner, wall hanging, tote, tree skirt, or larger quilt. Armed with Judith's tools, tips, and techniques, as well as her smart methods for staying organized, you'll be ready to make your first--or your 21st!--bargello beauty.

There are lots of applique pressing mats on the market--the Fusamat has added some clever features that make it a must if you work with fusibles. First, it's designed to be slightly tacky so that your pieces stay in place without slipping and your mat does not move on your ironing surface. It's unique design pulls the glue into the fabric, helping to eliminate whisps of fusible from sneaking out around the edges.18" x 30"
The Roundabout collection from Robert Kaufman is 17 bolts of batiks featuring a variety of circle patterns in colors like charcoal, shower, rain, neutral, grey...
