Lots of blenders, Sashiko samplers, new Juvenile prints and more

Monica's Message

blendersHi, Everyone!
This last week was CRAZY. We had sixteen boxes, that’s 124 bolts of fabric, come in on Monday. Nine boxes came in on Tuesday and five more boxes arrived Wednesday! I’m not sure what came on Thursday and Friday ‘cause I was at the quilt show in Lindsay, Ca. Lots of blenders that we need to pull all 300 and some kits for the retreats came in—don’t worry, there’s plenty for everyone. I think Evelia went a little crazy.....
We finally got the new display racks in the bead room so that we can properly display all the wonderful findings I bought in Tucson. The gals and Miguel have been working like mad to get everything reorganized. As I keep telling you, I am so lucky to have my wonderful staff. They just roll with whatever shows up!
Besides fabric, we have new Sashiko kits, supplies and books plus some fun new notions. Check them out in What's New below.
As  our Season comes to an end and we have fewer people in our Valley, we sometimes don’t get enough students for our classes and have to cancel them. If you are thinking about taking a class, register well in advance so we can confirm with the teacher about a week ahead and keep it on the calendar. Here are some of the quilt side classes coming up in the next 2 weeks that have room for more students.

What's New--here are some of the items that came in last week

Sashiko is traditionally used to mend and repair clothing and textiles, but it can just as easily be used to create beautiful, decorative projects for the home and is a lovely way to add texture and interest to your quilts. We have several kits to get you started as well as the traditional thread and needles you'll need.

mending matters
Mending Matters includes more than 20 hands-on projects that showcase current trends in visible mending while drawing on traditional stitching. In addition, the book addresses the way mending leads to a more mindful relationship to fashion and to overall well-being.

Touching on the concepts of beauty in minimalism and resourceful simplicity, as well as a fascination with Japan and Japanese design, this easy and accessible book appeals to both the seasoned maker and total beginner.

The Boro line we shared a couple of weeks ago is the perfect fabric for your Sashiko and visible mending projects.
