A Message from Monica

penguin playmatHi, Everyone!
Well I guess all good things must come to an end....I must say I loved hanging out at my store these last two weeks. I got to chat with customers and not run around like a chicken without its head trying to get ready for the next show. I had a wonderful conversation with a lovely couple from Torrance who drove all the way out just to come shopping at our store. I got to see lots of my winter residents who have just come back. I even took time out one day to sit in the classroom when Hester was teaching her Poppins Bag class with a wonderful group of ladies (who, by the way, were all from out of town and drove in to take the class) and just chatted. It was just so nice to be here. Here are Jere and Linda working on their bags. (Sorry--the other photo didn't come out.)

I also had six sales reps come out to show me everything from quilt market. Barbara, from Quilting Treasures, actually delivered the new Little Poppins Bag samples from Aunties Two patterns! The samples are going Little Poppins Bagwith me this week to the Rusty Barn quilt show but will be back in the shop next Monday. The pattern, including stays that fit either of the small bags, is $18.00. The larger of the two is the perfect carry on bag--it fits under your seat!
Miguel flew home from Houston today and he and I leave Tuesday night after work to head down to Tucson. I am very proud of my son for stepping up, flying to Houston without hesitation, to help out out our good friend whose husband passed unexpectedly. I am so very blessed to have such wonderful children.
Talk about being blessed, our little Judy is back in the store and let me tell you something about her...she walked in and the first thing she said to me was, “What can I do for you Monica? How can I help?” I felt like crying! She had just arrived back in town to her winter home and came to the shop to see if I needed anything. God, I love my girls!
And I have a new girl working for us. Her name is Jean and she too is amazing. She comes in to work and just starts right in...cleaning, organizing, straightening, whatever. I love self-starters.
And what, you may ask, is that darling penguin up above? It's a Cuddle Kit for a play mat--it sold out almost as soon as it came it and I'm happy to say that we finally have it back in stock.
Remember I need bras and underwear. Collections are coming in every day—let's keep it up! There are so many people who need our help—men, women, children—everyone needs underwear. We'll draw the winning tickets at the Holiday party on December 8. Oh--and the Holiday Party starts early this year. We'll open the shop doors at 9AM--so if you are going to the Coachella Valley Quilt Guild meeting, I think there’s time to come here first so you can get the early bird discount--that's 25% off your purchases! Read all about the Bra & Panty Drive and the Holiday Party and Sale in What's Happening below or by clicking here.
And there’s more (lol.) Wait until you see my new shirt dress pattern! Really—it’s made from upcycled men’s dress shirts. It’s easy and fun to make. I wore mine to the last show and I sold 12 patterns in one day! You can see the picture in What’s New below. But remember, this, too, is going with me to the Tucson show. We hope to have it available on our website in a few days.

Noel Dress The Noel A-line dress is made from upcycled men's dress shirts! Existing hems are utilized to create a charming tiered effect.
